The Price

A good episode, introducing an enemy as interesting as the Borg, but very little subtext. Gabrielle near the end manages to talk Xena out of her dark impulses, and Xena says "You understand hatred, but you have never given into it. You don't know how much I love...that." And later as Xena heads off to fight to the death, she says, "Gabrielle, if this doesn't work out I want you to go to the river." "No," replies Gabrielle. "You do what you have to do, but we'll walk down that road together." (Would Gabrielle kill herself? Thanks to Wakar for pointing this out to me.) Xena then half turns to tell Gabrielle something, but changing her mind, marches into battle.
