A Tale of Two Muses

  • Xena responds to Gabrielle's poem about the season only when it gets to something aproaching 'intimacy.'
    • "Life's brutal truths unsoftened by it's tender mercies," reads Gabrielle
"You know, I like that," responds Xena.
  • Gabrielle tries to persuade Tara to stay away from the town.
    • "I think that you should stay with us."
  • Xena gropes Gabrielle while they go to bed.
    • "I gotta dance," says Gabrielle, rising from her blanket.
    • Xena whips out her hand and pushes Gabrielle down, leaving her hand on Gabrielle's chest a little longer than is necessary.
    • "Go to sleep," mumbles Xena.
  • Instructing the children in dance, Xena refers to Gabrielle, saying "My lovely assistant and I will put it together," and then they dance together.
  • When the children come out dancing for their parents, Tara and Gabrielle dance together in the foreground.
  • The episode ends with a slow motion hug between Xena and Gabrielle.
Notes:
If "Footloose" needs anything, it is a parady, not a tribute. At least Tara was not as annoying in this episode as she was in "Forgiven."
Also, all the main characters in this episode end up dancing with a male partner except Gabrielle; she always dances with females.
Oh, and this episode was directed by Michael Hurst.
