Not much in this episode except for some hand-holding.
However, Leslie points out to me: 'Gabby's flirting with David, akwardness at meeting Sarah, her immediate walk to find Xena, then finding Xena upset & disturbed, and comforting Xena. This sequence encapsulates the choice/path to which Gab is becoming more & more committed...letting go of flirting with doe-eyed young men, to stand by her mature, wounded, damaged love (i.e. Xena.) The contrast between her callow interaction with David, followed by the serious, intimate, almost wordless exchange with Xena, is a real hint of how Gab is growing up, "leaving behind childish things." This also seems to be one of thefirst times we see Xena opening up about some pain and leaning on Gabby. A small but telling example, a foreshadowing of how much Gabrielle will be growing and maturing into more of a "partner" than a little side-kick, a woman more than a girl. It's not just a "hand-holding" scene...in the space of 3 minutes we see Gabrielle put aside her youthful disappointment at David's having a fiancee to comfort Xena, who's in a REAL state of pain about what she owes Goliath...that scene just makes me sigh "our little Gabrielle is growing up."
