The Dirty Half Dozen

Xena comforts Gabrielle by saying "I could never see you as being evil." As she says this, she cups Gabrielle's cheek in her hand. One of the assassins (i can never get these people's names straight) speaking of Gabrielle says "I know why I'm here; I know why they're here; but what are you here for?!" In response Darnell says "I can think of one reason to have her around." Lithera confronts Xena later, "Why do we need these men? Just the two of us; we can do this. Oh, and your friend if you really think we need her." Darnell later says to Xena, about the possibility of changing his evil ways, "Become like you? Roam the countryside helping people? Dragging around some half-starved kid pretending she's a friend?" Now, about Lithera. She's a man hating, woman supporting warrior type. And she was trained by Xena. If one assumes there may have been some...bond between them in the past (perhaps she learned her woman loving ways from Xena?) then other scenes have subtext too. When She, Xena, and Gabrielle are locked up in the jail cell, there is initially a lot of antagonism from Lithera towards Gabrielle. (Jealousy?) Xena confronts Lithera, saying "Gabrielle's been through a lot more than you'd think. Yes, more than you." Lithera understands this and goes and makes her peace with Gabrielle.
